How To Obtain A Police Check (All Volunteers)
In order to become a volunteer for our association, you must obtain a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) from the Hamilton Police Service. For the most updated and more detailed information, please click the link to visit the Hamilton Police Service website.
All volunteers can apply now either apply in person or online. To apply in person, visit the Hamilton Police Service, RECORDS BUSINESS CENTRE, 155 King William St., Hamilton, ON L8R 1A7. The Records Department is open Monday to Friday 8:30am – 6:00pm. Closed Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. You may also apply for a police check online from the comfort of home. Information can be found at here. Please note: online screening checks may not be suitable for everyone. Please review the information carefully to determine if this is the right choice for you.
Two pieces of ID are required, at least one must be photo ID. You must bring the following two documents:

WMBA Volunteer Application Letter - Please print the required form below and write your name in the space provided.

Police Vulnerable Sector Check Form - Please print the required form below and complete Unit 1 on page one, Unit 3 on page two, along with all information requiring applicant’s name and signature.
The current cost for a vulnerable record check is $25, but since fees change from time to time, the most current fees for obtaining a record check can be found here.
Please be diligent on getting this completed, as the turnaround for a volunteer application is 30 days, although can be shorter. Once you receive your approval, the original must be shown to the WMBA President or Vice President. Please email them at

to arrange a review of the original document (scans, faxes, photocopies or emailed copies will not be accepted). We will update our records once your clearance has been reviewed and accepted or rejected. These volunteer approvals are valid for two years.
