Grasshopper and Rookieball
Ages 7-9 by the end of the year

Grasshopper - Players ages 7 or 8 by end of the year

Grasshopper is an introduction to the pitched ball using a pitching machine set at 32 mph.

This division is played like real baseball with three outs per side per inning (except for the first few games) with a few differences.  A regulation game consists of six innings. There are a maximum number of runs per inning in effect and the entire team is in the batting rotation.  Finally, there is no stealing and runners are limited to a single base unless a ball is hit cleanly into the outfield in which case the runners can attempt to advance two bases.

Rookieball - Players ages 8 or 9 by end of the year

Rookieball is a faster paced game than Grasshopper also using a pitching machine to throw the ball to the batter. The pitching machine is set at 40 mph in this division.

There are three outs per side per inning with a regulation game consisting of six innings. There are a maximum number of runs per inning in effect and the entire team is in the batting rotation.  Fielding skills are emphasized at this level. Girls may also play Rookieball, but most choose to switch to Girls Fastpitch (Softball) division which begins at this age.
