FAQ Answers
When do players get their uniforms?
Uniforms will not be distributed until near the start of the season and worst case at the first game. Uniforms are first distributed to the team's coach and the coach distributes to the team members. Often the coach will call a pre-game practice or meeting where the uniforms will be distributed. Don't forget your children must wear an athletic supporter and helmet, both of which you must supply. See Equipment and Uniform.
What Equipment and Uniform must be worn?
From the WMBA Rule Book
a) Helmets must be worn at all times by batters, base runners and catchers. Minor aged assistant coaches or helpers under 14 must wear a helmet and chin strap while on the field.
b) Chinstraps on helmets must be fastened and worn properly.
c) Helmets with facemasks must be worn by the pitcher in Rookieball & Grasshopper.
d) All players must wear an athletic supporter.
e) Catcher’s equipment must consist of a chest protector, shin guards, facemask with throat protector and helmet, all of which must be worn during practice, warm-up, and games.
f) The full uniform supplied by The WMBA, consisting of hat, shirt and pants, must be worn at all times by all players while participating in a game. Any player arriving in shorts or sandals will not be allowed to play.
g) Coaches are expected to share equipment with opposing teams in situations where, due to breakage or normal wear and tear, there is insufficient safety equipment available.
h) NO player will be allowed to play wearing shoes with metal cleats except in Junior. Any player found wearing metal cleats during a game will be ejected from the game but will not serve an additional suspension.
i) Any person warming up a pitcher must wear a facemask.
j) Jewelry must be removed. If it can not be removed, it must be taped for duration of the game. Baseball Ontario no longer restricts jewelry for participants. Pitchers are not permitted to wear jewelry, wrist bands/bracelets on their arms.
How do I know if a game is being cancelled due to weather?
The City of Hamilton has the following Sports Fields Rain Out Policy:
In an effort to help reduce unnecessary and expensive repairs and maintenance to City owned sports fields, fields will be considered unplayable if the following conditions exist:
-
Visual ponding of water on the surface of the field/diamond
-
Water sponging up around your feet when walking on the field/diamond
If either of these conditions exists, then the practice will be cancelled, or game rescheduled.

Is there a an app available to view my player's schedule, read up on the current news and a whole host of other information contained on the WMBA website?
Yes, you can get the LeagueAthletics Mobile app at the Google Play store for Android and at the iTunes store for Apple. All you need to connect is your WMBA login and password and it should connect automatically to all your relevant information.
Where can I get a copy of the receipt for prior and/or current registrations?
You can get your registration invoices online from your account. Log onto your account by clicking your account at the top of the WMBA website. Once you have logged in, each participant should have registration history listed for each year they were registered. Find the year that you want the invoice for, and click on the credit card icon
and a window should pop up with your receipt that you can print out for your personal use.
Due to the new requirements concerned with the mandated Rowan's Law and compliance for all sports organizations in Ontario, what steps have been taken with regard to concussion management?
Baseball Ontario has put in place a new concussion awareness and management agenda, the Baseball Ontario Concussion Management Protocol, to be used by all sanctioned OBA associations. The WMBA will take steps to ensure that these guidelines are fulfilled and will alert all registrants, coaches and third parties on procedures to be followed to adhere to this new agenda. For detailed information on Baseball Ontario's concussion awareness effort, please visit their website.
