Annual General Meeting

Thank you to all who participated at our AGM on Nov. 19th, 2020. Though it was a bit unconventional this year being online, it was another great discussion with ideas that will definitely to help this association try to amend our programs around our current situation with Covid-19.

Once again we were almost able to fill every single position on the committee, compared to a handful of people who have been running the association for the past few years. We would like to announce that we have a new president this year, Chris Simpson, who has been handling our houseleague duties as convenor for the past few years, amongst many other duties along with coaching a Rep team the past couple of seasons. Congratulations, Chris!

Though we weren't able to offer a full program as in years past, we still would like to send a thank you once again to all the parents and players for your support over the past season. A special thank you to the committee members that worked to help run what little baseball we had amongst the restrictions.

Please note below the Committee members that were voted in for the 2021 season:

President  – Chris Simpson
Vice President – Krista Harwood
Secretary – Kelly Turner
Treasurer – Ben Adams
Registrar – Tammy Thompson

We are currently looking for someone to transition to our treasurer position as our current member cannot commit fulltime to this position. Also, our Girls Softball Director is looking to have someone fulfill these duties after this coming season, so please get in touch with us if you are interested in helping out our kids!

The process to get certified is a bit different from previous years but registration and administration is still all done through the Umpire section on the Baseball Ontario website (https://www.playoba.ca/). Step 2. Once you have your card number, you must complete an online and in-person clinic.Once the online clinic is completed, you can register at the below website and select the in-person camp that is convenient for you to register (we are not hosting this year but there are various locally based camps that you can attend) :

Our Upcoming WMBA Season

Hello Baseball Families,

Though you have not heard much from us for a while, we have been working hard in preparation for more baseball this year and have a few announcements:

Registration is now open!

We are happy to announce that registration for mixed houseleague is now available on-line and girls softball programs will follow shorlty as we are ready to tackle another upcoming baseball season. Note that we are introducing a new Coach Pitch division as an alternative for those who are of TBall/Rookieball age. Coach pitch is a program that allows the player to hit from a thrown baseball rather than off the tee. We encourage our members to register on-line, as we will not be offering in-person registration this year for another year. For those who have the inability or prefer not to use the internet for payment, you can still register online without paying initially. This would be highly appreciated to save our volunteers valuable time and effort. Other than paying online, mailing in a cheque is our only other option this year and the registration form and mailing address is available under the registration tab on the website. If you have any questions, including what tentative days each division plays, feel free to browse our FAQ section under our Member Info menu or email us through our Contact Us section.

Looking for coaches and umpires

Also of note, as per usual we are looking for coaches for every division in houseleague, so if you are interested in partaking, please send a note to our Houseleague Director, Adam Scott ( ). We are also in search for more umpires for the upcoming season. Please apply online in our Coach/Ump/Volunteer session or contact our Umpire-in-Chief, Mike Kinnear ( ) stating your interest or for more details.

Jr. Wolves program

Introduced last year, we are contnuing with our Jr. Wolves program as it was a great success overall. At a minimal cost, we are offereing a development program for players looking to move to the rep program in the future. The program is open to those born in 2016 who are registered for our houseleague program. Players will recieve a Jr. Wolves jersey and the programs will run on Saturdays thoughout the season. Registration is now available for this program on our registration section of the website. We are also interested in developing coaching for the rep program, so for more information related to this, please contact program coordinator Chris Simpson ( ).

Also on the slate for the upcoming season is the following:

  • 1st Annual 9U Houseleague All-Star Game

  • 11U Houseleague Home Run Derby

  • 13U Houseleague Home Run Derby

  • 16U Division featuring only Sunday evening games

  • Our annual end of year tournament/skills weekend

Thanks for your patience as we work out our details for our upcoming season and we hope to see your kids on the field soon!

Regards,

WMBA
